ADDISON - Wyman E. Farnsworth passed away unexpectedly on January 23, 2015, at Down East Community Hospital, Machias, Maine. He was born September 8, 1938, in Addison, Maine, son of Charles E. Farnsworth and May E. (West) Farnsworth.
Wyman joined the U.S. Navy in 1955 and served his country honorably. He was proud of his service, and he was a lifetime member of the DAV. He supported many organizations that helped veterans. After the Navy, he married Betty Alley, and they had three children before their divorce. He supported his family by digging clams and worms, and tried his hand at several small businesses.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two dear daughters, Pamela and Patricia; two sisters, Audrey Lewis and Joyce Davis; and sister-in-law, Lela Farnsworth. He is survived by his daughter, Penny Parson; two grandsons, Matthew and Lucas Parson; brothers, Charlie E. Farnsworth and his wife, Lois, Bobbie E. Farnsworth and John W. Farnsworth and his wife, Lois; sisters, Darlene M. Dowling and husband, Douglas Dowling, and Dolly Jordan; several nephews and nieces; his aunt, Frances; and several cousins.
Wyman was an independent person who chose to live his life on his own terms, and he died that same way. He was a man who had faith in God, and he was kind and generous to people who were down on their luck. He was also generous to churches and organizations that provided food and assistance to the needy. Those who knew him well had to accept him as he was. As his family, we pray that he is now at peace.
His family will hold services in the spring and will announce the time and place. Arrangements were made by Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home in Machias, ME.
