He was born April 4, 1943 in Capoterra, Sardinia to Teresa Ligas and Cesare Perello. Paul, as everyone knows him, has called North Carolina his home for the past 28 years. He opened his restaurant, Paul's Fine Italian Dining, in February 1988, bringing with him more than a dream - he brought his whole kitchen staff from his restaurant in New York. His name is synonymous with great Italian food and hospitality. His early career led him to Bad Godesberg, Germany and then to several other hotels around Europe then to New York City where he stayed for 20 years. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marcella; his sons: Paul of Raleigh and Marcello of Winston-Salem; his mother of 90 years, Teresa; two brothers: Giorgio and Serafino; a sister-in-law, Ginella and four nieces and nephews, all of Italy.
