Evelyn Ann Diebitsch, 78, beloved wife, mother and "Grandma", peacefully passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Evelyn was born on Feb. 25, 1937, in San Angelo to Bob and Evelyn (Dudley) Owens. She grew up in and around Fort Stockton and graduated from Fort Stockton High School in 1955. Evelyn married her high school sweetheart Bob Diebitsch in 1958 and moved to San Angelo in 1960. After moving to San Angelo she graduated from Angelo State University and began her long dedicated teaching career. She touched so many lives during her career and was affectionately known as "Mrs. D" by her students. Evelyn taught at Santa Rita Elementary School for 29 years. After retiring she became involved in volunteering for Meals for the Elderly, VIPS Program-Bonham Elementary and church missionary work for an orphanage in Mexico. She took a special interest in and enjoyed being involved in the grandchildren's sports and activities.

Spending time with her family was her greatest joy. She especially loved the good times spent at the family place on the Frio River. Evelyn was a faithful member of Glen Meadows Baptist Church. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ and received much comfort and peace from Him during her courageous battle with cancer.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by husband Robert "Bob" Diebitsch; sister Bobbie Louise Owens; and brother Dudley Owens.

Evelyn is survived by her son Gregg Diebitsch and wife Lisa of San Angelo; daughter DeeAnn Ray of Kerrville; two granddaughters Cameron Ray of Kerrville and McKenna Diebitsch of San Angelo; two grandsons Blake Ray of Kerrville and Colton Diebitsch of San Angelo.
