Evelyn Pearl Spears Hays, 92, of Harrodsburg, widow of Milton Earl (Buck) Hays, (first husband, John Y Spears Jr.) died Monday, October 24, 2016, at her home.
Born May 20, 1924, in Springfield, PA, she was the daughter of the late Adelbert Caleb and Pearl Mae Swift Hall.
She was a retired Corning Glass employee, a former real estate broker in Louisville, and was a member of the Ellers Memorial Baptist Church. Evelyn was an avid sports fan, closely following the University of Louisville Cardinals.
Survivors include: two daughters, Eileen (Spears)Sheperson of Gravel Switch, and Cathy (Spears)Jones of Harrodsburg; one stepson, John W. Spears of Danville; twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Adelbert Spears, and ten siblings, Caroline, Lula, Ruby, Mary, Alfred, Monroe, Charles, Lillian, Ruth, and Anna Grace.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, October 28, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Kenneth Whitehouse, Rick Bolton, and Doug Wesley. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Spears, Ivan Dale Isaacs, Terry Zimmerman, Marc Highland, Chris Miles, Chris Spears, Daniel Mattingly, and Tyler Isaacs. Honorary pallbearers will be Adam Leeds, David Sheperson, Vera Colvin, Larry Matherly, Pat Settles, Barbara Stratton, Ollie Curry, and Amy Moore.
Memorials are suggested to the Ellers Memorial Baptist Church or to Heritage Hospice.
