Civil war Union Army officer. Born in Jackson, Georgia, and attended school at Marietta College, Ohio, teaching school and studing medicine. One of the early town settlers of Kansas City Missouri, he is remembered as a historian of the town. He served as editor of two town papers, "The Post" and the "Free State Republican". Served in the Union Army during the Civil War. His obituary described him as an able, active, willing hand who "was a justice of the peace, a scientist, banker, literateur, businessman, professional man and public official.
