Brett M. Grubba, 46, of Gwinn, died Thursday evening June 16, 2016 at U.P. Health Systems in Marquette.

Born August 21, 1969 in Newberry, son of Robert J. "Bud" and Gloria (St. Clair) Grubba, Brett was a 1987 graduate of Newberry High School. On September 4, 1987, Brett enlisted in the United States Air Force serving during Operation Desert Storm and continuing his military career for over 17 years until his honorable discharge on April 27, 2005, attaining the rank of Technical Sergeant.

A resident of Gwinn since 2005, Brett enjoyed hunting, fishing, ATV riding, spending time with his family and his companion cats. Brett was a member of the American Legion Post #74 in Newberry.

Brett is preceded in death by his mother Gloria Grubba and father-in-law Dickie Frey.

Survivors include his loving wife, the former Theresa Frey of Gwinn, whom he married October 10, 1990 in Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughter Jessica Grubba of Gwinn; father Bud Grubba of Newberry; brother Robert Grubba of Newberry and mother-in-law Theresa Frey of Engadine.

Friends may call at the Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry on Wednesday June 22, 2016 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Reverends Cathy Clark and Cheri Ford officiating. Interment with military honors conducted by the United States Air Force and the American Legion Post #74 will follow at Forest Home Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter, 84 Snowfield Road, Negaunee, MI 49866 in his memory.
