Rites Monday At Grace Hill For Jim Berger
Graveside rites will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Grace Hill Cemetery for James A. Berger, 87, 1015 Ivanhoe street, who died early Friday at Perry Memorial hospital.
Phil Townley, minister of education and youth at First Baptist church, will officiate. Parker-Brown Funeral home will be in charge of arrangements.
Berger, the son of Enos and Lucy Berger, was born at Perry, Feb. 24, 1897. He was married to the former Lottie Riggins, who preceded him in death. He later married Viola Smith, who survives.
Berger was a carpenter and served in the United States Army during World War 1. He was a member of the Baptist church and the American Legion.
In addition to Mrs. Berger of the home, survivors include one son, Robert Berger, Sacramento, Calif.; two daughters, Beatrice Folan, Alamogordo, N.M.; and Leona Jo Aaron, Perry; two step-daughters, Juanita Petersen, Seattle, Wash.; and Barbara Mae Pruett, Dallas, Texas; three step-sons, Lester Smith, Dallas, Texas; Bobby Smith, Newton, Kan.; and James Smith, Everett, Wash.; a foster daughter, Chris Jenson, Oklahoma City; a brother, Enos Berger, Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Hessie Dunning, Sacramento, Calif.; six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Berger was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or American Heart Association.
