Historical Writer. Known as a prolific and award-winning Abraham Lincoln scholar. Graduated in Political Science at Tufts University and with a research doctorate in History obtained in 1940 from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, he taught at several American universities, including the Salisbury State University, the University of Illinois, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and University of Wisconsin at Madison. Thanks to the international spread of his essays, Dr. Current was invited to teach in Chile, Japan and India. He wrote hundreds of articles and nearly 50 historical works, including "Pine Logs and Politics: A Life of Philetus Sawyer, 1816-1900", "Lincoln the President: Midstream to the Last Full Measure", " The Lincoln Nobody Knows "," Lincoln and the First Shot "," United States History: A World Power "," Phi Beta Kappa in American Life: The First Two Hundred Years "and the last "Knut Hamsun Remembers America: Essays and Stories, 1885-1949". Dr. Current also received several prestigious awards such as the Bancroft Prize, the O. Max Gardner Award from the University of North Carolina, the George Banta Award from the Wisconsin Library Association and the Logan Hay Medal from the Abraham Lincoln Association, as well as being appointed Fulbright Professor in Munich and Harmsworth Professor from Oxford University.
