Sergeant Ford, of Knox, Indiana. After his June 2003 graduating from Knox High School, he joined the Indiana National Guard in August 2003, after losing 70 pounds in three months to qualify. In addition to his military service, he was a student at the University of Southern Indiana, where he majored in history and and participated in ROTC for 3 years. He married his wife, Karen, in 2007. Joseph was serving his first tour in Iraq, deployed in early 2008 after training in late 2007 in Georgia. He died in Al Asad, Iraq, of injuries suffered in a vehicle accident. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 152nd Cavalry Regiment, 76th Brigade Combat Team, Indiana National Guard, New Albany, Indiana. He was a specialist but was promoted to sergeant posthumously. Joseph is survived by his wife, Karen Christina (Grimm) Ford of New Albany, formerly of Evansville; parents, Samuel Harlan Ford and Dalarie Ford of Knox, Indiana; brother, Matthew Ford of Knox, Indiana; sister, Abbey Ambrose and husband, Brian, of Plymouth, Indiana; his grandparents, Orvil and Loretta Slone of Lima, Ohio, and Sadie Ford of Wellston, Ohio; and his pet cats, Ragamuffin and Aramina.
