John A. Babich, Jr., 92, of Taylorville, Illinois died at 5:00 AM Monday, June 16, 2008, at Meadow Manor Nursing Home, Taylorville.

He was born June 25, 1915, in Taylorville, the son of John A. Sr. and Helen Carvish Babich. Mr. Babich was employed by Georgia Pacific for over 35 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 2120. He was an Army/Air Force veteran of World War II where he served as a pilot and gunner earning the Silver Star. He was later a flight instructor for the Army Air Force in Colorado. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 4495 and American Legion Post 73. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and bowler.

Surviving are his brother, James Babichtwo sisters: Geraldine Jones and Mary Francis Gleason. There are several nieces and nephews including Mickey Newlin and husband Jonathan and Mike Gleason.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Joseph Babich, Ed Babich, Dean Babich and Francis "Babe" Babich and two sisters: Emily Babich and Sr. Anita Babich.
