Died - At his residence in Walnut township, Butler county, Kansas, April 23, 1884, at eleven o'clock p.m. Dr. E.H. Alexander, aged 47 years, six months and eighteen days. The Doctor leaves a wife and family to mourn his sad loss, and also many friends and neighbors who deeply sympathize with the bereaved family in this hour of affliction, may he rest in peace. The funeral took place on the 24th at his residence. The Doctor had been ailing for a long time and deemed his ailment an incurable one, it being Bright's disease of the kidneys, that most fatal disease so prevalent among mankind. He was resigned to his fate and was also prepared to go, he told his brother before he was taken down that he could not live much longer. But the sting of death did not alarm him he bore his sufferings with Christian fortitude and resignation, looking forward to a home of rest in Heaven when his suffering here should all be past. The Doctor has been sine early youth a worthy member of the M.E. church South, an exemplary friend and neighbor and will be sadly missed in his neighborhood and community.

The following particulars in relation to Dr. E.H. Alexander, whose death is noted about was furnished us by J.M. Gross:

Doctor E.H. Alexander was born in Allen County, KY., May 5th, 1836, professed religion in the fall of 1855, and became a member of the M.E. church South, was married to Miss E.A. Hanes August 2nd, 1866. Removed to Butler county, Kans., in March 1875, where he resided until date of his death; April 23, 1884. His age being 47 years, 10 months and eighteen days.

The Doctor was a good citizen and an upright man, who "feared God and eschewed evil." A kind neighbor, loved by most by those who knew him best. In his death the community loses one of its best members; the church mourns her loss, but rejoices in his gain; his wife is bereft of a good husband, his children of a loving father. His God is their God, and is able to sustain them in this their bereavement.
