Aubrey was a City Police Officer in Irving, Texas. He was in Law Enforcement a total of 5 years, previously serving with the Kaufman Police Department and Tarrant County Hospital District Police Department. He served 14 months with the Irving Police Force, dying in the line of duty at age 29. Officer Hawkins and another Officer was responding to a robbery in progress call at a local sporting goods store. Officer Hawkins arrived at the store within three minutes, interrupting the 7 suspects who were tying up the store employees. The suspects opened fire upon Officer Hawkins, killing him instantly. The 7 suspects had escaped from a Texas Prison, two weeks prior to that incident. One month after Officer Hawkins murder, six of the seven suspects were apprehended, the seventh suspect committed suicide. All six suspects were convicted of murder and sentenced to death. Officer Hawkins was survived by his wife, Lori and son.
