Two Elders of the Elm Point Church, died November 8, 1883, and were buried November 9, 1883, Anthony Hill aged seventy nine years and nine months, and Wesley Price Armstrong, aged thirty years ten months. Father Hill was born in Crittenden county Kentucky, January 1804, was married to Eliza Wilson, November 23,1826, and removed from Kentucky to this state in 1837, he lived in this county more than forty years, he was a man much beloved, of great firmness of character, united with kindness of manner, and courtesy towards others, what he believed to be right he did, if others would help him, help was gladly received, if not he would work cheerfully alone till others were ready to take hold and help him, this habit in the maturity of his character gave him great influence over men. They said in every good enterprise he ought to have help, the sunny cheerfulness of his old age commands the Christian religion to all men, he leaves two sons and two daughters to mourn for him, Wilson and Joseph Hill, the daughters are Mrs. Ezekiel Clough and Mrs. Thomas McLain, he was buried in Elm Point cemetery.
Wesley Price Armstrong, while young, was in every way fit to be an elder, by the side of Father Hill, born and brought up in this county he chose this as his life home, he married to Miss Mary Jane Strain, March 18, 1879, he leaves a wife and two children, a daughter and son, to mourn, it is seldom that a church lose two of its elders by death in one day.
