John Wilson Mathena and his wife, Mary Havens, raised 12 children in a two-room home that he built in the 1860's. He farmed about 100 acres.
Their children were Lewis James, Martha Jane, Howard Jackson, William Thomas, Floyd Witten, John (Henry) Ballard, Alexander, George Washington, Margaret A., Stephen Paris, Polly Ann, and Fannie Mathena.
The Mathena Family Cemetery is located on a hill behind the site of the old homeplace.
John Wilson Mathena is my great-great-great-grandfather. Many thanks to cousin Jim Mathena for the photographs used on this page.
