I sent an e-mail to the TVA and they said if no one claimed the grave, in 1966, and moved it, then their graves are underwater.

He changed his name from Reid to Reed.

I visited the Historic Gwinnett County Courthouse and didn't find any records for him. There was some information on his father, Samuel Reid, that had been typed and donated. The original county courthouse burned in 1872 and may be why there were no records for him.

James was a Private in the War of 1812, Georgia Militia, Capt. McKinley's Company.
He was the first Surveyor of Gwinnett Co., Georgia and a founding member of Fairview Presbyterian Church, Gwinnett County, Lawrenceville, Georgia.
He settled in St. Clair County, Alabama, on March 25, 1834, on the Coosa River with his wife and family.
