MY GRANDSON

Born in North Charleston, SC to Beverly Marie and Paul Edward Vaughn on January 29, 1981. We lost him on August 9, 2004 after a fatal automobile accident.

He was a wonderful brother to his sisters, Nicole and Shannon and to his brothers Riley and Blake. Grandson of Joseph Odell and Helen Wilson King, of Orlando, FL and Arlie and Marie Vaughn, of San Jose, CA.

Stephen was a 1999 graduate of Old Mill High School, Severn, MD. He had served in the Army, and was stationed in Bosnia, Kosovo, and Germany. After being discharged, he was fortunate to be able to back pack around Europe before returning home and attending college in Ypsilanti, MI. He was employed as a security guard and had just received his EMT License.

Stephen was a man with numerous talents & special gifts. All who knew him felt his zest for life. He never missed an opportunity to engage anyone in a debate about almost anything. Stephen was a joy to be around. Pure of heart and soul. His humor was contagious and any room was brightened by his presence. Those that knew him, loved him. Good natured even to those that were disagreeable. Always a kind and uplifting word to change a frown to a smile. He had a unique ability to form instantaneous & life long bonds with people he just met. His charismatic personality & quick-wit immediately put people at ease with him.
Stephen saw and accomplished more in his 23 years than most people do in a lifetime. I am very proud and honored to be able to call him my grandson.

In Memory...

We do not need a special day,
to bring you to our minds.
The days we do not think of you,
are very hard to find.

Our hearts still ache with sadness,
and secret tears still flow.
What it meant to lose you,
noone will ever know.

There will always be a heartache,
and often a silent tear.
But always a precious memory,
of the days when you were here.
