Mae was the daughter of Henry David and Mary Ann Hammonds Carter, and the widow of Delpha Fletcher Wilson. She had one step daughter, Helen King, and two step granddaughters; Bonnie and Beverly. She was the sister of Benjamin (Ben) Carter, James F. Carter, Odessa Spinks, and Addie Watson.
She grew up in Georgia and had a large group of friends. She was employed with Lessers Apparel Shop and later retired from Style 'N Studio.
She was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church and was a member of the Women's Bible class.
Mae and my Dad were married in Athens, Ga. on April 20, 1946. They had a good life together and she loved my two girls as much as she would have had they been her own blood grandchildren, and for this I will forever be grateful.
