"Death of George T. Moorhead."

"It was with almost universal sorrow and regret that it was learned that George T. Moorhead had died at St. Luke's hospital at 8:30 o'clock Sunday morning, after having had an operation performed for appendicitis. The funeral will be held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the family residence, No. 818 Seventh Avenue. The services will be conducted by an old friend of the family, Rev. J. K. Fowler of Clinton, formerly pastor of the Second Presbyterian Church of this city.

George Moorhead was one of those bright, energetic, upright young men, for whom there seemed a bright future. Well educated, of a genial and sunny disposition, with good business tact and those attainments which make up a successful young man, a long and useful life seemed to be before him. A year ago he had an attack of appendicitis from which he never fully recovered. The disease recurring again and again, it was decided there was but one hope for him - an operation. Two weeks ago he was taken to St. Luke's hospital, where the operation was performed. Already in a weakened condition, he never fully rallied, although the latter part of last week there was some hope for him. Saturday he became worse and failed rapidly until the end came.

The deceased was born in Cedar Rapids Oct. 3, 1876. He was educated in the public schools of this city. He filled several positions here very acceptably, and then went to Kansas City, where he entered the employ of Swift & Co. Last fall he returned home to rest up, having suffered another attack of appendicitis. Later arrangements were made whereby he was to take charge of the trade in this city for Swift & Co., as soon as he recovered his health.

He is survived by his father, William C. Moorhead, and one sister, Miss Amy Moorhead, a teacher in the Monroe school. His grandfather, A. Laurance, also survives him. His fiancee, Miss Elizabeth Bauer of Burlington, arrived here Sunday night at midnight in response to a telegram, announcing his death. She will remain for the funeral."
