Victim of Violence. Ramon Sanchez, 9 years-old, died after he was struck in the head by a stray bullet fired near his family home in the Los Angeles community of Watts.

Ramon was sitting in the kitchen drinking a glass of milk when a bullet from the apparently random drive-by shooting came through the window.

Touched by the boy's death and after learning that the Sanchez family was trying to raise money to bury their son, Michael Jackson reached out to the district attorney's office and paid the entire bill.

When Mr. and Mrs. Sanchez expressed a desire to thank Jackson for his generosity, arrangements were made for them and their three surviving children to meet at a studio where The King of Pop was filming the "I'll Be There" Pepsi commercial.

They expressed their gratitude through an interpreter, stating that Ramon was a big fan and that Jackson's surprise donation had made enduring the tragedy more bearable.

Rest in peace, little Ramon. You are remembered and loved.

To locate Ramon's grave, turn left at the cemetery entrance and drive to the second section on your right, Section C. At the curb marking "100" walk 17 rows up and Ramon is one grave to the left. There are two in-ground vases available for flowers.
