He was born in Twin Twp.; the son of Milton H. and Phoebe Ann (Reichard) Bierly.

He was a 1909 graduate from Harrison Township High School.

He married Margaret Bernheisel, daughter of Benjamin & Lora (Bittle) Bernheisel, on April 12, 1914, Preble County, Ohio.

To this union, 9 known children were born: Esther, Elma Louise, Georgianna, Beth Ellen, Josephine, Robert Reichard Bierly, Barbara, Moody Cleveland, Jr., and Gordon Lynn Bierly.

Following the death of Margaret, he was then united in marriage to Bonnie (Garreth) Shuss on August 4, 1937, Preble County, Ohio.

He owned and drove a school bus for Lewisburg-Union Schools, as well as owned a second-hand store in Lewisburg, Ohio. Upon his marriage to Bonnie, they ran her restaurant.

He died at the Stillwater Sanitarium, Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio from tuberculosis and was interned on August 06, 1947.
