George Beisel was born in Dreispitz, Russia in 1872 and married Katherine "Katie" Berg sometime in his twenties. Together, with their eldest son, Reinhard, they arrived in Baltimore, Maryland on March 17, 1899 aboard the S.S. Munchen. George and Katie made their way to Marion County, Kansas where George's brother Andrew lived. They stayed until about 1917 when they relocated briefly to Wisconsin, before moving to Mason City, Iowa, where they now rest side by side.
George was survived by his wife, Katie and eleven children; Reinhard, George Jr., Danny and Alex, Mrs. Karl (Mary) Krause, Mrs. Nick (Rachel) Venechuk, Mrs. Ed (Hannah) Heizelman, Mrs. Walter (Lydia) Muhlstein, Mrs. Barney (Leah) Clark, Mrs. Louis (Martha) Hanson and Mrs. Kenneth (Susie) Belseth. Two children, Edward(?) and Katherine died in infancy. Fourteen grandchildren also survive.
According to the 1925 Iowa State Census George's parents were Philip and Sophia Beisel.
