Judith Evelyn Dant, 67, of Corona, California, formerly of Suitland, Md., and Waldorf, Md., passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011. Born May, 26, 1944 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Russell Ernest Dant and Mary Evelyn Dennis Dant.

She was a graduate of Suitland High School, Class of 1962. She was retired from the Census Bureau and previously employed by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and AFL-CIO.

She was a former member of First Baptist Church of Waldorf and First Baptist Church of Suitland, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. She was an die-hard Washington Capitals hockey fan, a member of her high school reunion committee, and enjoyed researching the family geneaology.

She is survived by her children, Therese Grimes Stair and husband David, of Westminster, MD; Thomas Grimes and wife Nancy of Haymarket, VA; Marsha Grimes and fiancé, Peter Phipps of Sierra Vista, AZ; and Stephen Grimes and wife, Ana Rizza of Corona, CA; grandchildren, Christopher, Amanda, and Shawn Hartsock; Jessica and Thomas Grimes; Thomas Douglas; Katherine, Kristin, and Heather Stair; and Kimberly and Kevin Ceballo; great-grandchildren, Jacob Campbell and Dayton Harry; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother, Russell Dant, Jr.; and sisters, Marsha Morales, Linda Schneider, and Marie Dant.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hunt Funeral Home, 3035 Old Washington Road, Waldorf. A funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Robin Bayles officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf.
