Charles Vincent Bliven was born in Lansing, Michigan on December 1, 1920, the only son of Martin H and Margaret A (Vincent) Bliven.

His parents divorced before he was born. He was raised by his maternal Grandparents Charles and Christina (Nicolle) Vincent and his Aunt Ivy (Vincent) DeVaney upon the death of his mother in 1931.

After obtaining his Airplane mechanic's license at Cassidy Lake, Charles worked for Roscoe Turner at Roscoe Turner Aeronautical Corp in Indianapolis, Ind. for a number of years before the start of WWII.

Charles worked as a Flight Line Supervisor and later as a Flight Engineer on B24 Bombers at Willow Run Airport. He was drafted in 1944 and was stationed outside of Washington D.C. where he met his future wife, Flora. After basic training, Charles was stationed on Saipan until he was discharged. There he was in charge of the Supply Warehouses.

Charles and Flora A Gardner were married on August 23, 1947 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. There were together for 50 years, 46 of them as husband and wife. He was the father of 4 children: Margaret, Charles Jr, Nancy and Leroy and the grandfather of 6.

He worked for Ford Motor Company at various locations in Southeastern Michigan for 32 years, retiring in 1981.
