Minnie Lou McCurley "Mama Lou"
Mrs. Minnie Lou "Mama Lou" Jackson McCurley, 87, of Opp passed away on December 20, 2009 at home with Comfort Care Hospice attending.
She was a retired supervisor from Covington Industries and was the eighth employee hired when the facility opened and she trained many to sew. She was the church and family leader at Blue Springs Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held on December 22, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Boles, Hospice Chaplin Rev. Donald Hall, the Rev. Lynn Sasser. The eulogy was given by her granddaughter-in-law, Kelly Whisonant and special instrumental music was provided by Matt Jackson and Gerald Brown. Burial followed at Peaceful Acres with Wyatt Funeral Home directing the services.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L.V. McCurley; her parents Agnue and Bama Jackson; her brother Foye Jackson; and her sisters, Bernice Jackson and Lois Glisson.
Survivors include a son, Taylor (Shirley) Whisonant; a beloved grandson, Joshua (Kelly) Whisonant; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Madison, and "little" J.T.; a sister, Merle (Arnold) Kendrick; a brother, Edward Earl Jackson; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Grimes, Alane Catoe, Inez Jackson, Mozelle McCurley, Marie McCurley, Dorothy Turner, and Anne Marie Henderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were nephews, Bobby Jackson, Robert Jackson, Richard Jackson, Eddie Kendrick, Tommy Glisson and Joe Edgar.
Honorary pallbearers were James McCurley, Robert McCurley, Allen Jackson, Ronald Grimes, Michael Jackson and Tim Jackson.
