My father was born in Northern Jutland. He was a skilled blacksmith. After having done his military service he worked on board salvage ships around Iceland, and in Iceland he met and married my mother. My two eldest sisters were born in Iceland, in 1920 and 1921. Later my parents moved to Denmark where they lived in Copenhagen the rest of their lives.
