Fiona, an Albany native, lived in the area for her entire short life. She was a friend of mine in elementary school, Public School #16, and lived in my neighborhood. We also attended William Stormont Hackett Junior High School and Albany High School together, though due to personal problems, she was changed to a private school, Bishop Maginn, halfway through her high school years. She also attended Bryant & Stratton College and Russell Sage College. In her spare time she enjoyed collecting doll houses and miniatures, and also loved to sing. Many friends remembered her for her beautiful voice, which she showcased in music classes and the school chorus. The junior high school we attended was rather rough, and those two years were among the worst of my life, but Fiona was always one of the ones who stood up for me during that time, even though as one of the more popular kids she could've chosen to look the other way or treat me shabbily too. I'll always remember her for how kind and loyal she was, in addition to her other great qualities. She died at home at the age of only twenty-six, of an accidental drug overdose. Fiona is warmly, lovingly remembered by many friends and relatives for the funny, loving, warm, sweet, loyal, caring person she was, and not for the personal problems she battled when she got older.

Fiona was survived by her parents Martha Doyle and Brian Doyle, Sr., her stepfather John Miller, her younger brother Brian, Jr., and her husband Ali Celik. In her memory, a foundation has been established to help at-risk young women by teaming first-year high school students with first-year college students and covering areas such as the arts, career coaching, human relations training, social support, etiquette, and social interaction. Her funeral was held at the beautiful historic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
