A truck was driven into the front of the Embassy, and a bomb was detonated by a suicide bomber. The explosion not only destroyed the Embassy, it also destroyed a Catholic Church and a nearby school. The blast killed 29 people, several were Israeli but most of them were Argentinians, many of them children. It also wounded 242. The group known as Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility in retaliation for the assassination of Sheikh Abbas al-Musawi a leader of the group Hezbollah.
