Elvera "Cookie" Bean died of natural causes on May 28, 2014, at the age of 86.
She was born in Red Lodge on June 5, 1927, to James and Lena Orler. Cookie's siblings are Dorothy, John and James.
Cookie married Richard Bean on May 13, 1947, and had four children, Mary Margaret, Richard J., Robert and Lucinda.
Nursing was Cookie's passion. Cookie attended nursing school, became an aide and later became a licensed practical nurse in August of 1969. She retired from nursing at the age of 77.
Cookie was preceded in death by her husband Richard, son Robert, her parents James and Lena, and her sister Dorothy.
Cookie is survived by her children, Mary Margaret and husband Mack of Big Sky, Richard J. and wife Desiree of Eureka, and Lucinda of Seattle; grandchildren, Joshua of Libby, Robert and wife Brandi of Bigfork, and Curtis and wife Maria of Kalispell; great-grandchildren, William of Bigfork and Nadia of Kalispell; and brothers, John of San Francisco and James of Billings.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 16, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. Cookie will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Billings.
