My Great Grandmother
Eula R. Spriggs
I never got the opportunity to meet her because she passed away when I was still a child. She was the mother of my grandfather David Styers Jr She had many other children with David S. Styers, but I do not have all their names. The ones I do know of are: David Jr., Bernice, Charles, Clara J., Anna Katherine and Ethel Mae. She also had two sons who died as children.
(Update) 08/04/2008 I just found out Eula and David Sr had a daughter on April 1st 1929. No name on record. All I know is this baby girl was born in West Virginia.
God bless her, she was a mother to many. She even took in children and teens who had need of a home. I am told she was very sweet and loved the Lord. I wish I had met her.
Eula was born in Maryland. The daughter of Floyd and Mary (Defferbaugh) Spriggs.
She later married a man by the name of Bernard H. Pifer. I am told she had children with him too. Two of the children were a daughter June, and the youngest child was Eula Mae Oleta (who sadly passed away a few years ago).
Eula was grandmother and great-grandmother to many.
My family, who knew her, tell me she was a very sweet lady.
She was a devout Christian woman who took in needy children in her later years. I remember a quilt she left my grandfather which had her name on it. Sadly this family heirloom was lost in hurricane Andrew. Thankfully I still have the crucifix she left my grandfather.
She died in Baltimore at the age of 84. Cause heart disease.
God bless you great-grandmother Eula.
