Skippy was our little dog when I was growing up. She was the first dog ever in my life. She was already there when I was born. I am told I would give her my cookies as a baby. I have to say things haven't changed since I still do, to my dogs now. Skippy and I never really got along. I was a very hyper kid and got on the nerves of the aging dog. I am ashamed of what I did. I really was a pain and once she even nipped me. I deserved it. I know that as a child I really didn't know any different. I was just very playful and wanted to play with her but she didn't like that. Skippy started showing signs she was sick and it turns out she had cancer. She was 14 years old when my family decided to have her euthanized. They sent the neighbors to do it and I find it very harsh because every dog deserves to die and the last face they see is their owner. We owe it to them, no matter how hard. I feel that way and am sad to think Skippy died with friends of the family and not one of our family. I was a young girl in elementary school when she died but I still remember that day.
Skippy was a funny little dog.
