Eddie & Delphine were the oldest friends of my parents & my Mom's sibling's, they were more like family when all of them were young & before they had started families of their own.
They were all friends before Eddie & Delphine were even married, just "young kids" as I've heard them, my parents, aunts, & uncles say.
At my Dad's 80th birthday in 2005 they were all joking that it was my Mom's "fault" that they got marrried. I guess it had been a running joke from when they all were younger.

Eddie & Delphine were especially close to my Uncle Eddie & Aunt Eleanor.
They continued that wonderful relationship & were always there for Aunt Eleanor after Uncle Eddie died leaving her a young widow with 4 children, until her death in 2002.
