Born: October 23, 1915 to James Franklin Smith and Dona (Baxter) Smith at Holdenville, Okla.

Passed away: Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at the Valley View Hospital in Ada, Okla.

Education: Elizabeth attended Wewoka Schools. She then went on to attend Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha, Okla. and then Oklahoma University in Norman, Okla. where she graduated in 1936. She belonged to the Pi Beta Phi.

Elizabeth was a homemaker and also teacher at Butler and Farmington, New Mexico and also Atoka Schools.
She loved Oklahoma University (OU FOOTBALL).

She was a longtime memeber of the First Christian Church. She belonged to the Pink Iris Garden Club and Bridge Club.

Married: Verne Avery Briggs on March 27, 1937 at Wewoka, Oklahoma.

Son: Dr. Jim Briggs of Atoka, Okla.

Grand-daughters:
Jamie Crow and husband Heath of Atoka, Okla.
Erin Durbin and husband Davey of Atoka, Okla.

Daughter in law: Theta Briggs of Atoka, Okla.
