Phil was born October 9, 1948 to Truett Watson Hughes and Billie Sue Eaves in Houston, Texas.

His early work history was centered around oilfield drilling both offshore and on. He began his career with Texas Electric Cooperatives in San Angelo, Texas in 1986 and transferred to TEC in Austin in 1989. In 1997, he became the Lab Supervisor. Phil was dedicated to building a quality production lab that was always in good standing with TNRCC and EPA Standards.

Phil was an avid reader and lover of music and had an eclectic music collection. He enjoyed working in the yard and loved plants. The last few years he showed a quiet strength battling his illness and was a strong supporter of many Hep C Support Groups. He was also a peace advocate. Phil was a sensitive soul who always put the needs of his family and friends ahead of his own.

Phil is survived by his loving and much beloved wife of 27 years, Marchelle; daughters, Sarah and Corinne; beloved dog, Sissy; sisters, Susann and Debbie; brother, Donnie; children from first marriage, Jeromy and Adrienne; numerous other relatives and many friends.

Part of his cremains were left at Cook-Walden Forest Oaks Cemetery in Austin, Travis County, Texas, the city he loved so much. The remainder of his cremains were given to his wife, Marchelle.
