She was divorced from Billy Reue in 1957, and on November 20, 1958, she married Benjamin Franklin Hoffacker, Jr., of Midland, Texas. They had two children, Matthew and Mimi.
Sylvia enjoyed sewing, painting, home decorating, golfing and loved entertaining, but her greatest joys were her four children. She and her first husband Bill Reue also welcomed her younger sister into their home in 1955 for several years.
In September 1949, both Sylvia and her mother, Billie, were stricken with polio in Houston. Sylvia completely recovered after two years of physical therapy. She lived in Hawaii with her maternal aunt, Pansy Rae Eaves Burtis and husband Thomas Ray Burtis during the time she was in therapy and enjoyed her life there immensely.
