Clair S. Hockenberry aka Pete or Sarge was a fine man. He served his country in the AAF WWII. He sent money home to his widowed mother, Lillian Harry Hockenberry and loved his sisters and brothers: Mary, Margaret, Julia, Dorothy, Joann, John and Kenneth. His father Benjamin Joseph Hockenberry died when Pete was 9 years old. His baby sister Esther Pauline, was born and died 10 years before his birth. When Pete was murdered, it broke the hearts of his family from which they were never healed. He is often spoken of and fondly remembered. His mother, father and all siblings except for Julia and Joann have gone to meet Pete. My Uncle Pete was murdered by Earnest and James Rankin and his wife Lovena Hoffman who later married one of the Rankin brothers.
