Daughter of David Shelby Byars and Martha Jane Fondren, of Bangs, Texas and beloved wife of James Lucius Visart. After his early death from pneumonia in 1908, in 1910 she married Eugene Clifford King and, after his death, Earnest Sikes. She was the mother of Edith Fernetta Visart and Viola Virginia Visart.
