Daniel Schenck was the oldest son of William and Margaret (Long) Schenck, who are buried in Brookside Cemetery, Butler County, Ohio. He was married to Nancy Margaret Cox on October 31, 1839, and they lived in Deerfield Township, Warren County, Ohio. They had four children (Mary, Nancy, William and Richard) before Daniel died at the young age of 31 from congestive fever. His little son, William, died three years later and was buried next to him. His wife never remarried. She raised their three children, moved to Kansas in May of 1885, and died three months later.
