Doris E. Earl, 62, of Springfield died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Heritage Manor. She was born April 26, 1930, in Springfield, the daughter of Claude and Juanita Lazenby Shull. She married William "Bill" R. Earl Sr. in 1957 in Springfield. Mrs. Earl was a 1957 graduate of Feitshans High School. She was a drafting engineer for Illinois Bell Telephone Co. for 33½ years and was the former owner of the Jailhouse Tavern. She was a secretary and past president of FOE Auxiliary Aerie 437, a former secretary of CWA Local 5009 and a member of Sunday Night Strikers and Illinois Liquor Association 47. She also was a DARE coordinator for FOE Aerie 437. Survivors: husband, William; two sons, Herb Earl and William "Billy" (wife, Robin) Earl II, both of Springfield; a daughter, Ella (husband, Donald) Willhite of Springfield; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, John (wife, Glenna) Shull Sr. of Taylorville; three sisters, Evelyn Rice and Georgia (husband, Frank) Roberts, both of Springfield, and Marjorie (husband, Roger) Wright of Chatham; and several nieces and nephews. Services: 1 p.m. Monday, Vancil Memorial Chapel, Janet Earl Esper officiating. Burial: Camp Butler National Cemetery.
