Samuel Joseph Lambert was born in Springfield, IL on July 4, 1992.

He was purchased from Pass Pets in Springfield; where, at that time he was found to have ear mites and worms. Sammy was returned to Pass Pets with the stipulation that he either be cared for and cured by a professional vet and/or his purchase price be refunded to me. Pass Pets complied on both stipulations and was returned to me happy, healthy and free of cost.

Sammy was neutered and four-paw declawed at West Lake Animal Hospital by Dr. Janet Hill. Sammy quickly became one of Dr. Hill's favorite patients. Sammy also won the hearts of the West Lake staff and everyone he came in contact with. Even people who were not "cat lovers" took a liking to Sammy.

Sammy was considered to be quite a "Momma's Boy."

Sammy was the Grandson of Ethel and Greg Lambert of Springfield, IL and the Nephew of Kalyn Lambert; also of Springfield.

Sammy was determined to be a combination of both domestic house cat and wild cat descent. This was based on his unusual fur pattern and the enormity of his neck and fangs.

When Sammy was six, he had his left ear pierced; making him the coolest cat ever.

In 1994, Sammy appeared on WICS TV's "Catch of the Day" segment. This segment focused on Sammy's fishing expertise and his "Catch and Release" philosophy.

In 2000, Sammy developed Diabetes Mellitus and required insulin injections twice daily.

In late 2004, Sammy moved to Peoria, IL to join me as my job had transferred me to that city in 2003.

Sammy became frighteningly ill in 2004 and was rushed to the Peoria Animal Emergency Clinic where he was treated for fluctuations in his blood sugar and was then released.

On October 23, 2006; Sammy was once again rushed to the Emergency Clinic where his condition had worsened to the point of being incurable.

Sammy was euthanized on October 23, 2006 in Peoria, IL with me by his side as I wanted to be the last person he ever saw. The person who loved him the most.

Cause of Death: Complications of Diabetes Mellitus

Sammy was individually creamated, with his ashes to rest in my care.

Some of Sammy's many nick names were: The Bear, Bear, Pooh Bear, Cochise, Cheese, Oooms, Punky Poo, Sam The Man, Lover, Da Bear, Poohins & Bearins.

Sammy's Native American name was "Two Bears."

Sammy went from being an incredibly ill kitten to becoming an 18 pound icon of feline beauty. He will be loved and missed forever.
