Solon (age 12) and his brother, William (age 10), were spending the holidays in Kentucky visiting their grandparents.
On Christmas morning their grandparents' home caught on fire. Both boys perished in the fire after numerous attempts by their grandparents to rescue them.
Solon was a seventh grader at Barre Town Middle-Elementary School in Barre, VT. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts. He loved the outdoors, camping, playing and listening to music, sledding, skiing, and hanging out with his brother and friends.
Solon started playing the piano at age six; he could play both classical and jazz. He has been described as having a passion for learning, a sensitivity to others and subtle, mischievous sense of humor.
He is survived by his parents, four sets of grandparents, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
