Kadye Anne Cooper was a resident of Highlands, Tx for 14 years and for the past 3 years she resided in Austin, Tx where she attended the University of Texas. Kadye was born in DeRidder, La and frequently visited family and friends in the Leesville-Hornbeck areas. On February 28, 1989, this world was blessed with this vibrant, free spirit. On April 24, 2010, a tragic accident took her from those who loved her. Loved ones include her parents, Bruce Todd Cooper and Diana Lynn Hale Cooper who currently reside in Highlands, Tx but are native of Louisiana, her brother and sister, Cody Lane Cooper and Kasey Nicole Cooper who reside in Highlands, Tx; her grandparents, Willie and Rita Hale of Hornbeck, La and Vaughn and Betty Cooper of Leesville, La along with a multitude of Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends. After graduating in the top 10% of her class from Ross S. Sterling High School in Baytown, Tx in 2007, Kadye began classes at the University of Texas in Austin. She majored in Spanish and Linguistics, hoped to continue to law school and eventually become a judge. While at UT, Kadye played on the Campus' Club Rugby team and had recently been awarded a position on the 2010 All-Star Rugby team. She also played co-ed softball, a sport that she had played and enjoyed since age 7, tutored local high school students, and worked part-time jobs while keeping up her studies. To be exposed to different cultures, Kadye was looking forward to a trip to Italy this summer to attend classes there. Kadye was a beautiful person who never met a stranger and loved life. Her passing will leave an empty space in the lives of those who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held at Jackson Chapel Church of Christ in Leesville, La, starting Wednesday, April 28 at 3:00 pm until the time of the funeral service on Thursday, April 29 at 10:00 am with the Revs. Travis Murray and Buddy Airhart. Burial will be at Stephens Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home, a dignity memorial provider. There will also be a memorial service held at Second Baptist Church in Highlands, Tx on Saturday, May 1st at 1:00 pm with Rev. Beau Rosser officiating. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfh.com.
