January 21, 1887, p. 2
Two Burglars Found Guilty.
Charles White and Joseph Brown had a jury trial in Judge Cheney's court yesterday. They were charged with having stolen a double-barreled shotgun from the house of W.C. Bullard, near the Monte depot on the 15th of November last. The jury found them guilty of burglary in the second degree

New information sent to me August 2006
Bullard, William C.

Since it looks as if the family resided in MO at the start of the War, we assume that he served as a Private in Co K 4th MO Cav. This is the only William C listed in the Broadfoot Index of Confederate Soldiers.
In this same unit you have J. O. Bullard and several other Bullards in the same Unit and/or company. Herod was in the 6th MO Cav, and there is a C.B in the 5th MO.

Information from the 1850 and 1860 census: The family of Peter H Bullard b TN and Louisa C (or Lavenia) b TN, 1859 Ozark MO dist 45 children Christopher C, Eunice E, William C, John O., Harrod, Lucinda, and Rachell and in 1860 Howell Co Benton MO the name is spelled Ballard in the index;
children William C age 20 b TN; John age 17 b TN, John 17 b MO; Howard age 14 b MO; Lucinda age 12 b MO; Rachel age 11 b MO; H. L. age 4 b MO; Margaret J age 1 b MO. Not yet located in the 1870 or 1880 census
