Eugene "George" Schmerbauch of Troy, Ill. died Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill.
"George" was born in Troy on October 17, 1937. On October 28, 1988, he was married to Gloria Langley. He was retired from the Public Works Department for the City of Troy and was also a retired volunteer fireman for the Troy Fire Department. George was a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Schmerbauch (nee Langley) of Troy; siblings Ella Prendeville, Blanch Nix, Viola Schmieg, Arthur Schmerbauch, Roy Schmerbauch, Erwin Schmerbauch, Dorothy Schmerbauch, John Schmerbauch and Robert Schmerbauch; step-daughter Debbie Oldham; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Schmerbauch and Julia Schmerbauch (nee Sutton); brothers Charles, Marcus, Joseph and Daniel Schmerbauch; sister Pauline Lewis; and step-son Ronald Warzala.
