He was born November 18, 1947, in Altoona, son of Donald and G. Louise (Estep) Hoover. He married Linda J. Cromis August 7, 1971, at Memorial United Church of Christ, York.
Mr. Hoover was a teacher in the Hollidaysburg Area School District and retired after 35 years of dedicated service as a teacher and a football and wrestling coach.
He was a 1965 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School and 1969 graduate of Juniata College.
Mr. Hoover was a member of the Hollidaysburg Church of the Brethren for 28 years.
He greatly enjoyed life, teaching, coaching, golfing, construction work, spending time with his family and friends and vacationing at the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years; two daughters: Jennifer Hoover and husband, Ray Hunter, of Boothwyn, and Courtney Kelly and husband, Patrick, of Philadelphia; a grandson, Max Hunter; his parents of Carson Valley; a sister, Cathy Petre and husband, Rufus, of Duncansville; and a brother, Don, and wife Jane, of Denver, Pa.
Friends received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at Sorge Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg. In keeping with Ron's request, the casket will remain closed during the visitation. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday at Hollidaysburg Church of the Brethren by the Reverend Marlys A. Hershberger.
