Mrs. Nancy Jane Blevins, 79, of Whitetop, who had fallen ill with pneumonia, went to be with our Lord in Heaven this Saturday, November the 25th, 1950. She was the wife of the Late Hampton Riley Blevins for 49 years before he preceded her in death in 1940. Together they had nine children, only five survive. She lost son Mr. John Blevins in 1927, daughter Miss Lindy Blevins in 1929, son Mr. Carl Blevins and son Mr. Roscoe Blevins both this past year of 1949. Surviving are daughters Mrs. Amanda Shepherd of Whitetop, Mrs. Nannie Beamon of Rhodell, West Virginia, Mrs. Cindy Townsend and Mrs. Dovie Farmer both of Ashe Co., North Carolina; and son Mr. Dewey Blevins of Whitetop. Over 25 grandchildren survive, numerous great-grandchildren and numbers are still counting. Mrs. Blevins was a good woman, did right by others, and got by with no formal education. Burial will be Thursday afternoon at the Byars Cemetery at Whitetop Gap. May she be at peace with God.
