The son of Anderson Mitchel Clemmons and Syble Youngblood, he was a LTJG in the US Navy Reserve, serving aboard the USS Princeton (CVA-37). His VF-154 was listed as missing while on a recon hop south of Tanchone. Plane was believed to have been hit by anti-aircraft fire.

He is also identified on the Korean War Memorial in Dayton, Ohio.
