My Sweet Mama

My mom, Hazel Beatrice Ellis was born on June 15, 1926 in Pride, Louisiana. Mama was the third child, second daughter of John William and Rossie E. George Ellis. She attended Pride High School where she was valedictorian of her senior class. Mama attended Baton Rouge Business College and worked as a legal secretary for many years.
Mama met the love of her life my dad, Harry Glenn Babcock while he was stationed in the Baton Rouge and they were married Dec. 30, 1944 at Bethel United Methodist Church, Pride, Louisiana. Although mama and daddy wanted to start a family shortly after they were married that wasn't to be. Later on mama and daddy did find out they were expecting their first and only child (me) that was to be born in June 1953. On June 2, 1953 my dad succumbed to a ruptured congenital aneurysm and he did not live to see his only child born about 3 weeks later. Mama cared for and raised their baby daughter on her own until she met her second husband Percy Paul Seguin and they married June 23, 1955.
Mama continued to work as a legal secretary throughout the years and retired from Southland Corporation.
My Sweet Mama left her earthly life to live with Jesus on Dec. 5, 2002 and is loved and missed by her daughter, other family members and friends but they find comfort in knowing she is safe in the arms of Jesus and in his loving care.

Thanks Mama for taking such good care of me. You stayed strong when your world fell apart.

We are connected...my child and I...by an invisible cord...not seen by the eye...It's not like the cord that connects us 'till birth...this cord can't be seen by any on earth....This cord does its work...right from the start...It binds us together....attached to my heart...I know that it's there...though no one can see...the invisible cord from my child to me......The strength of this cord is hard to describe...It can't be destroyed...it can't be denied.....It's stronger than any cord man could create....It withstands the test...can hold any weight.....And though you are gone...though you are not here with me....This cord is still there...but no one can see......It pulls at my heart...I am bruised...I am sore....But this cord is my lifeline...as never before......I am thankful we are connected this way....A mother and child....death can't take it away!
