A brief synopsis of Orlando's Life and Travels:

After the death of his mother in February of 1884, Orlando seemed to disappear from the face of the earth. After nearly 8 years of extensive research, phone calls, and obtaining documents I can finally put my dear 2nd Great Grand Uncle to a proper rest.

Obtaining hints and clues from documents, history books, court documents and the final inquest into his death Orlando has now come home to be reunited with his Michigan family after nearly 75 years.

It appears Orlando was a traveling man, a farmer, and a good friend. He lived and farmed in the West in the early 1900's, took on the Northern Pacific Railway company (and won), returned to Michigan for a very brief time, then left again.

He traveled out of country, farmed, and became a noted person who made it in to the local history books. Upon settlement, he was visited by his grand-nephew. Prior to leaving he was visited by his first cousin, he then returned to the states. After a brief stay with relatives in Portland, Michigan he left again and was found living with friends as a common laborer.

Documents do not show whether Orlando resided in Illinois at the time of his death. He's deemed a "transient" by law enforcement at the time of his unfortunate accident near Aurora. The only possession he had with him was a stick with a bundle attached to it. No identification was found.

Orlando was struck by a car. It was a dark, cold, rainy fall night. Blinded by on coming lights Orlando was struck thus breaking his leg. After being taken to the Hospital by the attending deputy sheriff, Orlando developed peritonitis and his leg had to be amputated. Soon after Orlando died at the age of 75yrs 5mos. His body was removed to a local funeral home where an inquest was held involving all those passengers in the car, law enforcement, and the hospital. It was found that no one was at fault. Orlando was then laid to rest in an unmarked grave on November 2, 1937.
