Dusty was a kitty that was saved from a litter that had been ravished and eaten by wild dogs in East Texas. Bernard's son Danny and his wife Candace rescued her in the middle of the fierce attack in which she was the only kitty to live. They brought the tiny white bundle of fur to my husband - One look at her eyes and she owned Daddy's heart!
So sweet and loving, she purred so softly, she had a delicate soft "mee" -- instead of a meow. Her intuition always drew her onto the lap of the one who needed the most hugs from her. She owned us, we did not own her.
Precious baby began not being able to hold herself and was leaking. Angels do this sometimes. After taking antibiotics and tenderly caring for our little girl, she was not responding well. After xrays of her bladder, more than a stone was revealed. A tumor that had taken up the capacity of the babies bladder was the culprit. with no choice but surgery and prayers for our sweet girl, we prayed. Our baby was not able to recover from this traumatic surgery. Our vet called us so remorseful, he could not save her bladder, not enough left to repair our little girl. We were of course devastated and in shock.
There is no preparation for the loss of an innocent companion that harms nobody and loves all. How do these afflictions come about? In our home day after day, we feel they are safe from harm. But we are not in charge, we only have the honor of loving, feeding and caring for our precious pets.
Rueger and Dixie Pie Princess Barnes grieved for weeks, they were lost without sweet Dusty. Time is even all our pets have to recover. Even our girls Blanca and Cookie Dough knew that a dear friend had not made it back home.
As Valentine's Day approaches, we can now write this Memorial. We now we have Our Angel Kitty -- Dusty Kitty Meow-Meow Barnes to shower our pets with stardust. There are times her presence is here. Looking over on the couch, the visual of her sleeping for a split second in memory is comforting. Thank you God for our precious pets, they are innocent, loyal and remain everlasting in our hearts.
