VERNON - Judith B. Snizek, 49, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare with her loving family and friends by her side.
Judy was born on March 19, 1963 in New Hartford, a daughter of Joseph E. and Jean K. (Marks) Rybka. She was a graduate and valedictorian of New York Mills High School. She also graduated from the University of Rochester where she earned a bachelor's degree in nursing. Judy was married to John F. Snizek who passed away on Sept. 15, 2010. She was employed with St. Elizabeth Medical Center in the ICU for 27 years and also worked at Upstate Medical Center. Judy was a member of the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary and Holy Family Church, Vernon.
Judy loved her daughters dearly and was proud of their success both academically and athletically. She enjoyed time spent among loved ones and looked forward to vacationing with family. Judy's compassion and fulfillment from helping her patients extended to her family and friends, continuing her life-long commitment of selflessness and dedication to those in need. Judy was a hero to many, especially her children who looked to her for unconditional love and support.
Surviving Judy are her mother, Jean Rybka, Yorkville; three beloved daughters, Kelly, Melissa and Amanda, all of Vernon; sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Jack Sitts, Whitesboro; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Sue Rybka, Connecticut and Tom and Sandi Rybka, New York Mills. Judy also leaves several nieces, nephews and her daughters' grandparents, Frederick and Janet Snizek and their families. Judy was predeceased by her father, Joseph Rybka in 1980.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. at Nunn & McGrath Funeral Directors, 470 French Road, Utica. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home and 9:30 a.m. from Our Lady of the Rosary Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum.
Remembrances in Judy's name may be made to the family toward an education fund for her daughters. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
The Snizek and Rybka families extend their gratitude to Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare ER, 2nd floor CCU and the St. Elizabeth Medical Center nursing family who provided compassionate care and support to both Judy and her family.
Judy will be greatly missed by all those she leaves behind.
